The majority of motor vehicles that are put on the market for the public nowadays aim to meet the NCAP’s (New Car Assessment Programme) five-star standard and provide that extra bit of safety that appeals strongly to a potential customer. Technology has moved on from the mere addition of seat-belts and the following three models have earned their title as the safest cars on the globe through their innovative designs and meticulous craftsmanship.
Volvo V40
Highlighted by many field experts as the safest car of 2012, the Volvo franchise is synonymous with safety thanks to its willingness to go the extra mile. It recorded the highest NCAP score of any car to take the test and includes an innovative under-bonnet airbag to protect pedestrians. The car scored 98% in the adult protection criteria of the test thanks to this innovative design and strong structure. The structure consists of five different strong steels which keep the car in shape, making it stiff and relentless. Additionally, there are other safety features including the much acclaimed auto-brake system designed to increase reaction times.
Audi A6
Like the previous model, the Audi A6 has managed to achieve success at flaunting its attractive exterior as well as blending a whole host of innovative and special features that radiate maximum security and safety. With blind-spot monitoring, which does the work you can’t, and night-vision systems, it’s no wonder this model comes out on top. In the crash tests, the car scored the highest points in the front, side, rear-end and roll-over areas. There is also a selection of airbags lined within its interior to offer maximum safety to the driver and passenger, protecting them from head-on and side collisions that can’t be avoided.
Honda Civic
As one of the most popular car brands, Honda continues to improve its impressive safety record and this particular model showcases it with extreme efficiency. Everything, from its Advanced Compatibility Engineering structure to its traction control and auto-brake system, is designed with great attention to detail in order to display the car’s fine attributes and passenger safety. The car scores well in the NCAP tests with a 94% figure for the adult occupant thanks to its optimal protection and stiffness during the tests. The system was also commended for its safety instructions that inform the driver of the many safety advantages that the car operates.
